Production changeover times almost reduced to zero

KPI:
1 million
Pieces produced per year

The client

Fabian Steinbacher, Managing Director of KTM Components alongside the Lasertube LT7 machine

KTM Components GmbH, a subsidiary of KTM AG, produces major motorcycle components including the frame, exhaust systems, and parts for premium brands including KTM, GASGAS and Husqvarna Motorcycles.

The target

KTM Components, a subsidiary of KTM AG, produces key components in motorcycle performance, including the frame and exhaust systems.
The steel and stainless steel components have several cross sections, of which about 80 components are made in batches of 150 to 300 pieces each.
In addition, some frames are composed of tube assemblies that can number up to 60 different tubes, with strict tolerances.

To optimize costs throughout the process, without compromising on quality, high-performance and flexible machinery is needed.

The solution

With the Lasertube LT7, different metal profiles are prepared in a very short time, making production changes almost immediate.
In addition, thanks to Active Scan, tube shape errors are automatically compensated to ensure maximum precision on machining operations, enabling faster welding times within tolerances.
LT7
LT7 is a laser cutting machine for tubes and metal profiles that provides productivity and fast production changeover, with very fast cutting times for tubes up to 23 kg/m.
In selecting the most suitable tube laser for our needs, the LT7 seemed to us to be the most advanced machine. It keeps us up to date technologically.
BLM GROUP provides us with the speed and reliability we need in our process.
