Lasertube systems for sustainable mobility

The client

Marcopolo – sustainable mobility with tube laser cutting technology

Marcopolo S.A. is a Brazilian company founded in 1949 and it is among the largest bus manufacturers in the world.

Marcopolo concentrates their efforts on the future of mobility, with a focus on the new technologies and new transport methods, including hydrogen buses.

From Inspired For Tube No. 28 - September 2023

The target

Previously, there were many different processes for the wide range of parts for bus production that wasted both time and material.

The company's specific goal was to obtain the entire frame starting from a single bar, reducing movements, the number of processing steps and waste material while also simplifying frame design, manufacturing and assembly.

The solution

Thanks to the reliability and robustness of the Lasertube systems, Marcopolo has unified its production significantly reducing material waste.

Lasertube systems and BLMelements software solutions accompany Marcopolo also in this phase of production for sustainable mobility, ensuring the efficiency and flexibility needed to respond to new market demands.

Furthermore, BLM GROUP and Marcopolo are developing an even more automatic and integrated system for programming parts and preparing production for the machines in the workshop.

LT7
LT7 is a fully automatic Lasertube system that allows processing tubes from 12 mm up to 152 mm in diameter. Standard section tubes but also open profiles such as “L” and “U” sections and flat bars are processed completely automatically. All of this allows fabricators to maximize efficiency and production flexibility.
ArTube
ArTube allows the import of frames, making all the constituent elements immediately available. The operator can extract each element, modify it if needed and convert it into a machine program, ready to be sent for processing.
Assembler
Assembler is an optional software module of ArTube that allows complex frames and structures to be managed by defining, through a rich library of technological options, the relationships, supports and joints between the elements of assembly in a simple and intuitive way, thus reducing design and machine programming times.
BLM GROUP machines also accompany us in our new phase of  production for sustainable solutions, guaranteeing us the efficiency and production flexibility to respond to market demands.
